Obituary for Janet Hamilton

Janet C. Hamilton, 72, of Shediac Cape, with her loving family at her side, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Saturday, January 18, 2020. Born in Moncton, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Ruth (MacPherson) Hyslop.

Janet was a former employee of the T. Eaton Co. Ltd. and St. Martin’s in-the-Woods Senior’s Residence. She was a member of St. Martin’s in-the-Woods Anglican Church, Shediac Cape.

In past years, she was active with the Girl Guides of Canada, involved with the NB Morgan Horse Club and was former Show Secretary for the Club. She was very much involved in the operation of the family farm, Birchgrove Family Farm. Besides her church, which was a very large part of her life, Janet was very much an outdoors person, especially walking in the woods. She also enjoyed travelling, sewing, vegetable and flower gardening, socializing with her friends and most importantly, spending precious time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Janet will be sadly missed by her husband of 51 years, Ronald Hamilton; her loving children, Rhonda Hamilton (Martin LeBlanc) of Shediac Cape, Julie Horsman (Len) of Stilesville and Brent Hamilton (Marie-Pier Jones) of Shediac Cape; precious grandchildren, Abigail Klompmaker (Sander), Dustin Horsman, Celeste Horsman and Madeleine LeBlanc; cherished great-grandsons, Hendrik and Hazin; sisters, Edith Fawcett of Quispamsis and Brenda Welling (Wayne) of Shediac Cape; brothers, Lester Hyslop (Helen) of Dipper Harbour and Chester Hyslop (Kay) of Moncton, as will as several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one sister, Shirley and brothers, Frank and Douglas.

A Service to celebrate and honour Janet’s life will be held at St. Martin’s in-the-Woods Anglican Church, Shediac Cape on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at 2:00 pm, with Archdeacon Brent Ham officiating. Reception in the Church Hall following the service. Interment will be in St. Martin’s in-the-Woods Anglican Cemetery in the spring. Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) in care of arrangements.

In memory of Janet, donations to St. Martin’s in-the-Woods Anglican Church Fund, Friends of The Moncton Hospital or a memorial of the donor’s choice would be appreciated. Online condolences for the family may be shared on Fergusons Funeral Home Facebook page or at www.fergusonsfuneralhome.com
