Obituary for Betty Cavanaugh

At the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Monday, January 20, 2020, Betty Christine Cavanaugh formerly of Burton, NB and for the past number of years a resident at Paradise Villa, passed away at the age of 91. Born in Saint John, NB, Betty was a daughter of the late Sylvester Perry and Elsie May (Wadams) Stokes and wife of the late H. Weldon Cavanaugh.

She was an avid gardener, loved to knit, do crossword and jigsaw puzzles. Betty will be kindly remembered for her many charitable contributions.

She is survived by her five children Arthur Cavanaugh (Evelyn) of Napan, NB, Ronald Cavanaugh (Becky), Judy Cavanaugh (Michael), Marion MacDonald (Francis), Allen Cavanaugh (Sylvie) all of Burton; nine grandchildren Tracy, Vicki, Trevor, Kevin, Tom, Jason, Geoffrey, Stacey and David; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was also predeceased by her siblings Maisie Belding, Blanche Taylor, Thelma Frost and Bill Stokes.

Resting at Bishop’s Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Road Fredericton with visitation on Friday, January 24, 2020 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held at St. John’s Anglican Church in Oromocto on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 2:00 pm.

Donations to the Oromocto SPCA, Oromocto Food Bank or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences & the sharing of memories can be made at www.bishopsfuneralhome.com
