Obituary for Robert Melanson

1959 – 2020
Robert Melanson, 60, of Saint-Antoine, passed away peacefully with his loved ones by his side, on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC palliative care unit. Born on August 7, 1959 in Moncton, he was the son of the late Philias Melanson (2016) and Jeannette Vautour (1976).

An avid outdoorsman, Robert enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as walking in the woods to enjoy every aspect of nature.

He loved his daughter, Gabrielle Després (Josh Leblanc) of Cocagne; and was a wonderful brother to his three sisters: Paulette Simpson (late Robert), Monique Clowater (Rodney) and Denise Hicks (Lawton), all of Moncton; he is also survived by several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude towards Francine and the Després family for all their love and support. Also the doctors and nurses of the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC for their wonderful care provided to Robert during the past few months.

The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) from where the funeral service will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 11 at 11 am followed by a reception. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 10 am until time of funeral. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary cemetery, Dieppe.

Those wishing to honour Robert’s memory are invited to make a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society. Words of comfort and donations can be made at www.frenettefuneralhome.com.
