Obituary for Donald Belliveau

1934-2020
Donald Belliveau, 85, of Shediac, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 7, 2020 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC. Born in Shediac, he was the son of the late Léo and Juliette (LeBlanc) Belliveau.

A retired electronic technician since 1990, Don loved life and was always looking forward to the next adventure with Ruth. He was very proud of his two daughters who both work in the education profession. He enjoyed biking, walking, skating, cross-country and downhill skiing, traveling and sailing. He loved reading and keeping up with world news. He often could be found enjoying a live concert or show, at a local dance, on his bike in the Shediac trails and at a community event. His daily routine included a drive to the wharf and beach, a visit to a local coffee shop to exchange a few jokes with his friends and a relaxing afternoon reading a good book. He was the proud grandfather to 5 boys. He loved to tease and provoke them in a playful way. He was always concerned for their wellbeing and safety. He was a very hard worker and a great provider for his family. There never was a dull moment in his presence with his warmth and constant witty remarks. Ruth and the family cannot imagine a world without his presence and they fondly cherish the many years they had together.

Thank you to the Extra Mural Hospital and the palliative care at the Dr. Georges-L.- Dumont UHC.

He will be missed by his wife of 54 years, Ruth née LeBlanc; two daughters: Claire Ouellette (Jacques) of Grand-Barachois and Anne Leger (Danny) of Shediac; five grand-children: Alexandre, Zachary, Patrick, Jean-Michel and Marc-André; his siblings: Jean-Claude (Annette), Roland (Denise Lirette), Laure O’Brien (late Francis), Rose-Marie LeBlanc (late Roger), Pierre (late Janet) all of Shediac and Nicole Thibodeau (Hector) of Grand-Barachois; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Rhéa.

The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre (396 Main St) Shediac on Tuesday, February 11 from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm only. Funeral service will be celebrated at the funeral centre on Wednesday, February 12 at 11:30am. Interment will be in Frenette Columbarium, Shediac.

In memory of Donald, a contribution to the CHU Dumont Foundation (Oncology) would be appreciated. Words of comfort and donations may be made at www.frenettefuneralhome.com
