Obituary for Scott Guptill

(1960-2020)
GRAND MANAN-Mr. Scott Maynard Guptill, 59, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 8, 2020 in the Grand Manan Hospital surrounded by his family. Scott, born in St. Stephen, May 17th, 1960 was the son of Maynard Guptill and the late Alice (Green) Guptill.

He graduated from NBCC Saint Andrews class of ’79 with a business diploma. Over the years he was employed by many island businesses and most recently as an assistant manager of the Surfside Motel in North Head. Scott was also a freelance bookkeeper with an extreme attention to detail. Over the years Scott donated his time as a member of the Village of Grand Manan council and the Grand Manan Curling Club. He enjoyed sharing his love for music, his knowledge of island history and a unique sense of humor with his friends and family.

Scott is survived by his wife Deborah (Griffin) Guptill, daughters Morgan Guptill (Dan Baird), Adrienne Guptill, son Judson Guptill (Jennifer Green), sisters Jonelle Hepditch (James), Deborah Fleet (Ward), grandchildren Aleric and Lucia Green; Jasper Green, mother-in-law Albertine (Fleet) Griffin.

Scott was predeceased by his father-in-law Gerald Griffin.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at the Grand Manan Curing Rink from 1 to 3 pm on Sunday May 17th, 2020. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ells Funeral Home Inc., 1199 Route 776, Grand Manan, NB E5G 1G2. Messages of sympathy may be sent to www.ells.ca or (506) 662-3116.

The Family would like to extend their gratitude to the caring staff of the Grand Manan Hospital, Hallie Bass NP, Laurida Ells, and those who have extended their love and support.

Donations may be made in Scott’s memory to the Charlotte County Cancer Society or the Grand Manan Hospital Foundation.
