Obituary for Barbara Nelson

The passing of Barbara Helen Nelson occurred on Friday, February 7, 2020 at the Shannex Parkland Fredericton. Born in Saint John NB, she was a daughter of the late John H. and Marjorie H. (Addison) Nelson.

A retired nurse she graduated from the Saint John School of Nursing in 1955 and went on to receive her Bachelor of Nursing Degree from the University of British Columbia. She was an active and faithful member of the Rusagonis United Baptist Church until ill health prevented her from attending.

Barbara is survived by her niece Krista Nelson of Kelowna B.C, her nephew Kevin Nelson and his wife Josephine, their children Melissa and David of Fredericton, her sister-in-law Vivian Nelson of Fredericton as well as numerous cousins.

Her parents and her best friend and brother David J. Nelson (1985) and sister Jean Nelson and her dear and loving friend Gail Campbell (2010) all predeceased Barbara.

Resting at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton where visitation will take place on Wednesday, February 12 from 6 to 9PM. A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held at Bishop’s Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, February 13th at 11AM with Rev. Brent MacDonald officiating. Interment will take place in the Nelson Family Plot, Fernhill Cemetery in Saint John NB at a later date.

Memorial contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society in memory of Barbara would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences and the sharing of memories can be done at www.bishopsfuneralhome.com
