Obituary for Glenys Marie Arsenault

The family of Glenys Marie Arsenault sadly announce her passing, at the age of 64, on February 13, 2020, at the Fredericton Hospice. Glenys was born in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, on April 15, 1955. She was the only daughter of Marie Viola DeCoste and Lawrence Robie Manuel.

She was predeceased by both parents.

After nearly 40 years of marriage she leaves behind her loving husband Terry, daughter Kimberly (fiancé David), and son Dennis (Jessica). As well, two older brothers, Keith Manuel (Huguette) of Hanwell & Wayne Manuel (Paula) of Quispamsis, along with niece Laura (Jonathan), nephews Jared and Marc, and great–niece Josephine. She was also blessed with a caring and loving mother–in–law, Rina Arsenault.

After attending Capital Business College Glenys worked at CMHC (Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation). She later worked for a brief time with the Mathematics Department at UNB before taking a permanent position with the UNB Geology Department.

Upon starting her family Glenys decided to take time from working and raise her two children. This was one of her greatest pleasures, to be a stay–at–home mom and watch her family grow. She took great joy and pride in watching Kimberly develop a love of music and attended many music recitals and performances over the years, while Dennis excelled in sports, and numerous hours were spent watching him compete in games and competitions. She later returned to work at the Hallmark Card and Gift store at the Regent Mall and worked there until its closing. During the last several years she gave much of her time caring for her father before his passing. Family was most important in her life and from making birthday cakes to holiday dinners, she cherished it all.

In recent years she turned to gardening and it became a favourite pastime and love, planning and planting flower beds that continued to grow over time. She loved the sunny warm spring weather – spring could not come soon enough!

The family would like to thank all the staff at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, ExtraMural, and all the staff at Fredericton Hospice for the care which they provided Glenys during her battle with cancer.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to McAdam's Funeral Home. There will be no visitation by request. A Memorial Mass in celebration of Glenys’ life will take place from Holy Family Catholic Church, 1500 Hanwell Road, on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at 1:00 pm with Fr. Monte Peters officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Fredericton Hospice. Personal condolences may also be offered through the funeral home’s website, www.mcadamsfh.com.
