Obituary for Robert Campbell

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Alvin Campbell, surrounded by his loving family on February 16, 2020 at his home. He was born in Saint John on March 29, 1933 to the late Daniel and Helen (Williston) Campbell and was the loving husband of 65 years to his wife, Beverley (Hart) Campbell.

Bob worked as a carpenter for many years during the summer months and worked over 30 years for CPR / Cargil as a Weighmaster during the winter months. Bob was the kind of guy that could sit down next to a total stranger, strike up a conversation and leave as friends. He loved to garden, and believed he was the best cook, especially when it came to pickles and spaghetti sauce. He was a social person, liked to go camping, made trips across Canada to see the sights, and in later years he loved to mall walk with his friends. He was always happiest when family was around and will always be remembered by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren for his “where’s my hug?” greeting. Bob created a lot of lasting memories in his lifetime and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his wife, Beverley, he is survived by his son Robert (Christine); daughters, Debra (Mike) Devlin and Linda (David) Yeomans; 8 grandchildren, Sonja (Ryan) Dollar, Melody (Dustin) Mabee, Marcy (Mike) Mabee, Matthew (Carolyn) Mabee, Joshua Devlin, Ben Campbell, Garret Campbell and Annika Campbell; three great-grandchildren, Elijah and Avery Dollar and Jayden Mabee; as well as sister-in-law, Lillian Campbell, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Dawn Mabee; brothers, Nick, Bill and John Campbell; and sister, Audrey Murphy.

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424), where visitation will take place on Tuesday from 5 to 8pm. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at 1pm from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel.Internment will be at a later date in the Spring.

For those who wish, memorial donations in Bob’s memory made to the IWK Foundation, The War Amps or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by his family. To place an online condolence, please visit www.fundyfuneralhome.com
