Obituary for Charlotte Jones

Surrounded by her loving family at the age of 79, Charlotte Amber (Flemming) Jones passed away peacefully on February 18th, 2020 at Pine Grove Nursing Home, Fredericton, NB. She was born in Upper Queensbury, NB on February 23rd, 1940, a daughter of the late Murray and Margaret (Moffatt) Flemming.

Charlotte will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 59 years Stephen Jones, and her six children, Brent Jones, Peter Jones (Holly Jones), Doug Jones (Anna Healy), Gina Wilkie (Randy Wilkie), Danny Jones (Carey Traer), Suzie Jones (Chris Blanchard); and her 11 beloved grandchildren Debbie, Brandon (Xia), Josh, Charlie, Carter, Jarett, Mitchell, Kaj, Kamila, Rein, Oliver; and one great-granddaughter Harper; as well as her five siblings Noreen Stairs (Edwin), Neil Flemming (Janice), Janet Spurrell (Allan), Marie Lockhart (Doug), Dorothy Johnson (David). She is also survived by an aunt, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Herman Flemming.

Charlotte graduated from the Victoria Public Hospital School of Nursing in (1961). She began her nursing career at the Victoria Public Hospital in Fredericton NB, and continued to advance her career in Port Alberni, BC, Powell River, BC, and Hudson Bay, SK. Her most memorable nursing years were spent in Chatham, NB at the Hotel Dieu Hospital until her retirement in 1993. She was a dedicated volunteer in all of her children’s sporting activities, and the community at large.

For her retirement, they moved back to Bear Island, NB and built their dream home on the St. John River valley, where she enjoyed many of her hobbies such as quilting, sewing, gardening, reading the news, and entertaining. Her enthusiasm, smile, and nurturing ways will be missed by all those who knew her.

Visitation will be held at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis Drive, Nackawic, NB on Thursday, February 20, 2020 from 12 noon until 2 pm, and 6 to 8 pm. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Charlotte will be held on Friday, February 21, 2020 at 2 pm in the funeral home chapel. A private burial will take place at a later date at the Nackawic Cemetery.
