Obituary for Barbara Chessie

Barbara M. Chessie of Fredericton and formerly of Yoho, NB, passed away on February 20, 2020 at Shannex Thomas Hall, Fredericton, NB. Barbara was born on August 8, 1924 in Detroit, Michigan, a daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Howie) King.

She is survived by three daughters, Anne Smith, Hamilton, ON, Margaret Gallie (Roy), Calgary, AB and Sharon Liksa (Patrick), Smith Falls, ON; five sons, Patrick Chessie (Linda), Pickering, ON, Paul Chessie (Cindy), Fredericton, NB, John Chessie (Anne), Fredericton, NB, Larry Chessie (Colleen), Edmonton, AB and Blaine Chessie (Shereen), Ottawa, ON; sixteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; a sister–in–law, Velma White; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Dual F. Chessie; an infant son Michael George Chessie; a brother Harold King and a son–in–law Gordon Smith.

Although there will be no public visitation, friends are welcome to attend a funeral service at Holy Family Parish, 1500 Hanwell Road, Fredericton, NB on Friday, February 28, 2020 at 11 am with Father Monte Peters officiating. A reception will follow at the church. Interment will be at a later date at Cork Cemetery.

For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Barbara, the family has suggested the Diabetes Association or the Cork Cemetery (make cheques payable to Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Parish).

A funeral service for the late Barbara Chessie will be held at Holy Family Parish, 1500 Hanwell Road, Fredericton, NB on Friday, February 28, 2020 at 11 am with Father Monte Peters officiating. A reception will follow at the church.
