Obituary for Catherine Ann Brewer

The family is sad to announce the passing of Catherine Ann Brewer on Friday, February 21, 2020 at York Care Centre, Fredericton. She was born on June 28, 1942 in Montréal, Québec. She was the daughter of the late Henry Michael and Ida Lillian (Jorgenson) Rochford.

She held a BA and a BSc from Marianopolis College and St. Joseph’s Teaching College, Montréal. She served in the Air Force Reserves as an administrative officer, reaching the rank of Flight Lieutenant. She was the executive director of the Arthritis Society from 1980 until her retirement. In her retirement, she loved gardening, sewing, crafting, and was an avid cook.

Cathy will be missed by her sister, Karen Wilson (John); her children, Michael Lesiak, Christine Lesiak (Ian Walker), and Llewellyn Brewer; her grandchildren, Alexander and Adrian MacKenzie; her dear friend, Dawn Crawford (Steven); and nieces, extended family, friends, and neighbours.

In addition to her parents, Cathy was predeceased by her husband of 35 years, Terrance Brewer; and her sister, Eileen Rochford.

A special thank you is extended to the staff at York Care for their compassion and support in her last months.

As per Cathy’s request, there will be no visitation. There will be a memorial service at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church at a date to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Cathy’s memory can be made to the St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church Building Fund. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
