Obituary for Linda Purdy

1945 – 2020
Linda Purdy of Riverview passed away Saturday, February 22, 2020 at the Moncton Hospital. She was born to the late Albert and Kathleen (Ardley) Nichols in Halifax on February 5, 1945.

She moved to Riverview in 1966 when she married her husband Hilbert. Linda was very active in United Church Women at St. Paul’s United Church in Riverview and was a life member, where she held many positions on the Executive. She enjoyed playing bridge with her many friends. Linda enjoyed her walking group and in her spare time knitting, cross stitching and reading. She and her husband enjoyed boating for over 40 years on “The Purdy Nice”, first in Shediac and then later on the St. John River. Linda loved to bake for her four grandchildren and most of all enjoyed making “Nanny Jam”.

Linda and her husband were active in many aspects of motor sport, including the New Brunswick Antique Auto Club, the Greater Moncton British Motoring Association, and the Moncton Motor Sport Club.

She will be dearly missed by her husband of 53 years, Hilbert Purdy; her sons Kevin (Joanne) of Victoria, BC and Chris (Diane) of Riverview and their four children Luke, Ella, Ryan and Evan; her brother Ted Nichols (Eva) of PEI; and her sister-in-law Janet Hermanson of Dartmouth.

She was predeceased by parents and her sister Nancy Davison.

God bless this lifetime wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all. May she rest in peace following a long courageous battle. Amen.

The family will be receiving relatives and friends at Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd., Riverview (869-2007) on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to8 PM. A service celebrating Linda’s life will take place at St. Paul’s United Church, 404 Cleveland Ave., Riverview on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at 11 AM. Rev. Steve Berube and Rev. Dr. Andy O’Neill officiating. The interment will take place in Alderwood Cemetery at a later date.

In memory of Linda, a contribution to Riverview P.R.O. Kids would be appreciated. Online condolences can be expressed at www.cobbsfuneralhome.ca
