Obituary for Judith Blakney

BLAKNEY, JUDITH ANN
Judith A. Blakney, 68, of Moncton, and former long-time resident of Riverview (47 years), with loving members of her family at her side, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Monday, February 24, 2020.

A graduate of Harrison Trimble High School, Judy retired in August 2013 as a Branch Administration Manager with RBC Financial with over 44 years of service. She won several awards with her RBC team over the years. Judy was a devoted member of The Salvation Army Moncton Citadel Community Church, where she was The Corps Sergeant Major for her church and served in various other capacities over the years. She treasured the memories she had travelling with Dan for many years to Florida. Judy enjoyed walking and golfing, but her true passion was helping others who were less fortunate.

Judy will be sadly missed by her husband of over 47 years, Daniel Blakney of Moncton; cherished son, Scott Blakney (Anne) of Alma and grandson, Jacob Daniel Blakney; sister, Debbie MacLellan (Alan) of Moncton; brothers, Wayne Jones (Rhonda Norbirg) of Terrace, BC, Stephen Jones (June) of Dartmouth, NS, Kim Jones (Joanne) of Riverview and Shane Jones (Kris Morgan O’Reilly) of Nova Scotia; sister-in-law, Nancy Johnson; brothers-in-law, Richard, Russ and Tom Blakney, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at The Salvation Army Moncton Citadel Community Church, 20 Centennial Drive. A Service to celebrate and honour Judy’s life will be held from the church on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 11:00 am, with Majors Derrick and Judy Barrow leading the service, accompanied by Majors Leigh and Vida Ryan. Reception to follow in the Church Fellowship Room. Interment to be held in Wesleyan Union Cemetery, Riverview in the spring. Judy’s arrangements are under the professional care and direction of Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995).

In lieu of flowers, donations in Judy’s memory can be made to The Salvation Army or The Friends of The Moncton Hospital Foundation. Online condolences for the family may be shared on Fergusons Funeral Home Facebook page or at
