Obituary for Frederick Petrie

Fred passed away peacefully at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on February 19, 2020 at the age of 69. Born in Saint John, NB he was the son of the late Stafford James Petrie and Dorothy (Edwards) Petrie.

Fred was a long-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 3. He was a committed member of the Father Broderick Council #1219 Knights of Columbus and a member of the Bishop Hill 4th Degree Assembly #617.

He also served with The St John Ambulance # 733 and was a director of that service for several years in a volunteer capacity. He was involved in several other volunteer roles in his community.

Fred was an active participant in his faith, serving at St. Michael's Basilica as needed. Fred loved to travel with his father having gone across Canada taking in many National Historic Sites. He also toured Europe with his father where he visited several WW11 points of interest.

As a long-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #3, he volunteered with the Air Cadets in an Officer capacity.

Arrangements are with Maher’s Funeral Home, 35 University Ave., Miramichi, N.B. (506) 773-4321 At Fred’s request there will be no visitation. Mass of Christian burial will take place at St. Michael's Basilica on Monday, February 24th, 2020 at 11 a.m. followed by a reception. The Third and Fourth degree Knights of Columbus formed an Honor Guard and a Legion service was performed by Legion Branch #3.
