Obituary for Edith Robb

Edith Robb (September 16, 1952) of Riverview, NB, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2020 surrounded by her loving family after a hard fought battle with cancer.

Edith, a lifelong learner, believed in the value of education, completing her Bachelor’s degree in her 40’s and her Master’s in Cultural Studies in her late 50’s. She was a longtime editor, working her way up to a senior position within Brunswick News. Edith also broke barriers in journalism, was a prominent voice for women’s rights, and collaborated with and mentored many journalists throughout her career. Well known in many circles, Edith had the privilege of sitting on numerous boards in the Greater Moncton community. She was also recognized for initiating and operating the Christmas Lights Tour for many years, supporting the Food Depot Alimentaire. Over the past 10 years, she successfully ran Westmorland Communications, working with clients from around the world, which also afforded her the opportunity to spend more time with the joys of her life, her granddaughters.

Edith is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Bill, her beloved son Chris, his beautiful wife Kimberley, and their two amazing daughters, Rachael and Sarah. She is also survived by her brother Clayton McKinley (Marquita), her sister Phyllis Brace (Hanford), her youngest sister Mabel McKinley, and her sisters-in-law, Helene Robb and Linda Robb, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, Elmer and Bernice McKinley, her brother, Bernard McKinley, and his wife, Martha McKinley.

Edith is also survived by many of her close friends, who were eager to join her in having adventures, travelling, and living life to its fullest. Always ready for a party, she was described as “the glue” that kept everyone together. Her happiness, strength, and selflessness touched the lives of everyone she met. Edith was a true light in this world.

Edith’s family will be receiving condolences at Cobb Funeral Home, 330 Whitepine Rd. Riverview (869-2007) on Saturday, February 29th from 2 – 4pm and 6 – 8pm. A Celebration of Life will be held at The Journey Church, 1539 Salisbury Road (Allison Campus), on Sunday, March 1st, 2020 at 2pm, with Rev. David Morehouse officiating. The interment will take place in Alderwood Cemetery at a later date.

The family would like to thank the staff of the ICU at the Moncton Hospital for their incredible care as well as extend a special thanks to Donna and Ed Mason for their love and support.

In memory of Edith, a donation to Crandall University or to the Food Depot Alimentaire would be appreciated. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cobbsfuneralhome.ca
