Obituary for Edison Ellegood

It is with great sadness that the family of Edison L. Ellegood of Fredericton, NB and formerly of Millville, NB announce his peaceful passing at his home on March 24, 2020. Edison was born on October 3, 1930, a son of the late Allan and Queenie (Hanson) Ellegood.

He married Joyce I. Flemming in 1952 and in 1961 they moved to Millville where he managed the Esso service station, later purchasing it from John Rae, with whom he had worked for several years prior. He worked as a mechanic and ran the service station for many years, retiring in 1994. He and Joyce had some great golden years together, enjoying friends and family and doing things they loved together, spending time at their beloved cottage at Davidson Lake, going for long walks amongst the many trails around the province and simply enjoying the beauty that nature has to offer. Edison will be sadly missed forever by his family, his jokes and stories, sense of humour and his kindness and compassion will remain etched in all our memories and hearts always.

He is survived by two sons, Gary Ellegood, Fredericton, NB and Glen Ellegood (Brad), Port McNicoll, ON; two sisters-in-law, Bernice Flemming, Southampton, NB and Shirley Flemming, Charlottetown, PE; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Joyce I. (Flemming) Ellegood on April 16, 2004; a sister, Pauline Hawkins (late Maurice); a brother, Arthur Ellegood (late Joyce); a sister-in-law, Leona Laskey (late Oscar); brothers-in-law, Arthur, Neil, Murray (late Noni) and infant Paul Flemming.

Due to the current health crisis, there will be no visitation or service at this time. A funeral service is planned to take place when the situation has improved and an announcement will be posted at that time.

For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Edison, the family has suggested the St. Clement’s Anglican Church (make cheques payable to Anglican Parish of Prince William) or the St. Clement’s Cemetery.
