Elva Bourgeois, 95, formerly of Moncton, passed away peacefully following a short illness, on Wednesday March 25, 2020 at the Villa Providence in Shediac. Born on August 18, 1924 in Moncton, she was a beloved wife and loving mother, and oldest of 10 children of the late Adislas and Lina (LeBlanc) Cormier.

She will be dearly missed by three children: Anne-Marie Jones (John) of Moncton, Paulette Jamieson (Peter) of Picton, ON, and Roland “Rollie” (Marie) of Dieppe; one daughter-in-law, Carlene Bourgeois of Ontario; four grandchildren: Michael (Selena), Natalie (Ryan), Denis (Pascaline), and Luc; four great-grandchildren: Chloé, Atticus, Léo and Raphaël; two sisters: Helen Pyke (late William) of Halifax, NS, and Pauline Laverdure (late Denis) of Montréal, QC; one brother, Omer (Georgina) of Moncton; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Emile (2007); two sons: Maurice “Moe” and Donald “Donny”; two sisters: Huberte, and Jeannette; four brothers: Harvey, Eric, Arthur, and Jean-Paul.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to all the staff at the Villa Providence for their wonderful care provided to Elva.

In light of the current Coronavirus pandemic and at the request of the family, the funeral will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements are in the professional care of Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church St Moncton (858-1900). Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary cemetery, Dieppe.

In memory of Elva, a contribution to the Alzheimer Society or to the Villa Providence Activities Department would be appreciated. Words of comfort and donations can be made at www.frenettefuneralhome.com.
