Obituary for Douglas Guitard

The family of Douglas Joseph Guitard sadly announce his passing which occurred on June 28, 2020 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on April 28, 1942 he was the son of the late J. Ephram Guitard and Frances Lillian (Dempsey) Guitard Garland.

He was employed with Thorne's Hardware working in the warehouse and sales department before retiring in 2007. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years and was an avid Blue Jays fan. He enjoyed the time he spent in St Martins with relatives and friends. Above all else, his family was the most important part of his life.

He is survived by his wife Carol Ann (Sweet), daughters Brenda Ann and Lisa Dawn, his sister Rita Ferron, all of Saint John, along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother Clary, sister Rose Marie McKinney and his step-father Norman Garland.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424), Saint John. Due to current health restrictions, all services will be by invitation for family and friends.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor's choice.
