Obituary for Yvonne Young

It is with deep sadness that the family of Yvonne “Bonny” Marion (Joseph) Young announce her passing on September 12, 2020. Born in Saint John, NB on April 3, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Catherine (Stephen) Joseph.

Bonny considered her family to be her greatest achievement. The many accomplishments and the successes of each of her children and grandchildren filled her heart. Proudly she passed on to her children and grandchildren the values and Lebanese heritage of her parents and grandparents; including their courage; strength; and work ethic.

Bonny will be forever remembered for her capacity for fun; her great sense of humour; and her skillful ability to take an ordinary story and keep you laughing until your sides hurt. Many of her stories included her early days growing up in Saint John and the lifelong friendships with her Class of 1957. Bonny loved a good project – there was no such thing as a job too small or one too complicated and she often was heard saying, “If a project is worth doing; it’s worth doing right”. Bonny will live on in the hearts of many as we remember “Never let the truth get in the way of a good story”.

Along with her husband of 58 years James “Jim”, she is survived by her sons: Joel of Toronto, ON; Patrick; David (Laurie); her daughter and best friend Holly; her most treasured grandchildren: Dominic, Peter, William, Benjamin and Michael Young all of Rothesay, NB; her siblings Robert (Joan) Joseph; Dolores (Frank) Arthur; and Mona (Thomas) Crowley; brother-in law; Robert (Judy) Young; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother Michael Joseph; sister-in-law Sally Joseph; her dear nephew Gerald Arthur; and her sister-in-law Anne Crowley.

With respect to Bonny’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Rothesay, on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at 9:30 am. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

Remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society, Bobby’s Hospice, or the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
