School & Work Days

I was blessed to not only to work with Karen over the past 28 years, but I also went through Medical Assisting school with Karen.   Karen was an amazing woman.   It took me 3 years to complete my Associates Degree adn Karen stepped in and took 16-20 hours of credits per semester, and completed the program in less than 2 years.  She still raised her beautiful children who were still young.    We both enjoyed and had the opportunity to be taught by Carol C. the military nurse and then Carol M the sweetest of sweet southern medical assistant, both of them shaping our future careers more than we could have ever imagined.

Karen went to work for Portage Medical Center in January 1989 as she had done her externship there and loved it.   She contacted me soon after starting and told me I should apply, I was hired a month later.   It was always a pleasure to work with Karen, her heart was so BIG, and you could tell that she really loved what she did each and every day.

Though, we both ended up taking on different roles in healthcare, I always enjoyed catching up with her in the office.   She captured the hearts of many....... fellow employees, providers and patients.   She will certainly be missed.  She definitely found her nitch in healthcare, my heart and prayers go out to her family and friends as they mourn the loss of Karen.  However, I know that she is dancing in Heaven with Jesus.  Karen definitely made her mark in this world, she will forever be remembered it our hearts and memories.

God Bless!
