Coach Lewis was beloved in the community of Jacksboro as well. He coached in Jacksboro in the '60s and later returned in the late '90s as an interim principal at the Elementary and High School. He was respected by students, staff, and parents at JHS. Through mutual firends, I got to know Larry on numerous hunting and fishing excursions. I'll never forget the time Larry couldn't find a deer he shot on North Creek. In Larry's words, it was the biggest buck he had ever seen! In no time the search for the deer expanded from a few of Larry's friends to the entire coaching staff, several students and dads. The search went on late into the cold night,. Eventhough the deer was not found, this is just one example of what folks in Jacksboro thought of Larry Lewis. He would do anything for us and we would do anything for him!
Rest in peace Coach Lewis.
Sincerely,
Brad Burnett, Principal of Jacksboro High School
