Obituary for Ray (Reinhard) Crone

Ray (Reinhard) Crone
Crone, Ray – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ray Crone on January 24, 2017. His memory will live on through all the fantastical stories he spent recounting to his family and friends. Tales of monkey brains and dirty lederhosen, dancing on cruise ships and riding motorbikes through the desert in Libya. Stories that will continue to remind us all of the amazing adventures, sailing trips and around-the-world travels he was able to have in his 87 years, including recent trips to Germany to visit family and to Jamaica to watch his granddaughter wed. His stubbornness and determination kept him active well into his 80s, and his jokes were pulled off with a cheeky grin that could charm most anyone. While his big kisses and firm handholds will be missed we take solace in the thought of Ray and his beloved wife Marianne (2003) dancing with one another once again.
Loving and proud father of Mark (Cheryl), Joanne (Derek), and Christopher (Denny), Opa doted on his grandchildren Krista, Danielle (Andrew), Courtney, Jackson, Lindsay, Allison and Jessica, valuing the time he spent with them.
Ray was a long time resident of Thornhill and member of the National Yacht Club. He was a successful businessman in marketing and with the Uniglobe travel organization.
Friends may join us at the Marshall Funeral Home, 10366 Yonge Street, Richmond Hill on Sunday from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm to share their memories and stories. Funeral Mass will take place on Monday at 11:00 am at St. Luke’s Catholic Church (39 Green Lane, Thornhill). Interment follows at Holy Cross Cemetery.
The importance of blood donations was imperative in Ray’s final months. We ask, in lieu of flowers, to consider becoming a blood donor or make a donation to Canadian Blood Services in Ray’s memory.
