Mrs. Day was the mother of my very first friend - her daughter Donna. Mrs. Day and my mother took turns walking us to the bus stop where we caught a public bus to go to Cheviot School to attend kindergarten. Donna always wore something pretty that her mother had made. I especially remember a beautiful golden yellow coat with a beautiful lining.
As a child I was in and out of the Day household when they lived on Day Court. I remember Mrs. Day making donuts, upholstering the sectional sofa in a yellow fabric, and Broadway musicals playing on the stereo. She was also a wonderful gardener.
I visited with Mrs. Day when Donna and I attended the 50th reunion of our grade school class in 2015. She was sharp as a tack and still full of life.
She was a gift to everyone who knew her.
