Mrs. Anderson was a young mother late 30's when I first met her. It was at the Rinn Community fall smorgasbord. I was age 3 at the time and she inquired about the new cowboy boots I was wearing to the dinner that evening. As a little kid would, I let her know that I had been to my Grandfather's farm and had cow manure on my boots. She burst into laughter and then escorted me inside to enjoy all of the wonderfully delicious Swedish foods laid out for all the guests. As I became older and became friends with her son Jim, she would always prepare a fine noon dinner as farm wives have always done. Jim and I would fish the nearby lake and she, Barbara, and Jody would keep an eye on us. I remember her beautiful rose garden and her fluffy square dance dresses as she and Ed would head off to square dances with my folks. My memories of her are like an extra special sunset full of color and beauty, but now fading in time as the sun sets on her life. Louise was a pillar of the local farm community and one that could remember what Longmont was when it was just a small town of 6,000 residents. She is one of the very last of her generation who connected the rest of us to the importance of days gone by. I'm so grateful that she was a part of my life, and will continue to treasure all of her family left behind.
