Richard (Rick) C. Booke
December 1, 1951-May 27, 2017

United States Navy Master Chief Fire Controlman (ret) Richard C. Booke passed away unexpectedly on May 27, 2017 in LaMesa California.

Rick was born in Buffalo, NY to the late Abraham and Helen “Peggy” (Connor) Booke. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his older brother Robert P. Booke.

A 1966 Confirmand of the First Presbyterian Church of Buffalo, Rick was a 1969 graduate of Grover Cleveland High School, Buffalo NY. After graduation, at the age of 17, he enlisted in the United States Navy. He spent the next 31 years serving his country at various bases and aboard the USS Valley Forge, USS Albany and USS Antietam. He was a veteran of the Gulf War.

Rick is survived by his wife of 27 years, Gail (Nguyen) of La Mesa, California; their son Johnny Nguyen and his wife Nicole (Onpeng-Nguyen) of Murrieta, California, and grandsons Jacob and Jared Nguyen. He is also survived by his younger sister, Kathleen Booke Fitzmorris, her husband, Daniel, and nieces Katie and Meghan Fitzmorris of Clifton Park, NY; and several cousins.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, June 14th from 3-5 pm and Thursday, June 15th from 10:30-12:30 at the Featheringill Mortuary, 6322 El Cajon Boulevard San Diego, CA 92115. A military graveside service will be held at 1:30 pm on June 15th at the Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Drive, San Diego, California 92122.
