MacGyver
To start, I am truly saddened by this news... Dana was a very influential person for me, I worked and spent time with Dana and Dianne. I had/have a great amount of respect for Dana, he was a very good person, very loyal and a true friend. He was very committed to people that were close to him. He was a very creative individual. He was an engineer at heart. The first time I visited his house I was amazed by all of the little inventions and pieces of equipment he had built. The depalitizer was the most impressive and one he was very proud of, as he should have been! There was no challenge that Dana wasn't willing to take on and solve. We knew him as MacGyver at work, you could give Dana any idea and he would run with it. He loved people that were like him in that way! Dana was a strong leader because he wasn't beyond making some mistakes from time to time and then owning up to them. He was very committed to taking care of his boys on the floor of the shop, always trying to find ways to put a bonus each month back in their pockets for their hard work and efforts. He was proud of what his team provided for success and he loved being a part of it. In early every day and always trying to lead by example. I think many misunderstood Dana but I certainly did not. I appreciated everything about him as my boss and I will always remember him for his "can do anything" attitude! I regret not seeing him and wished I had known of his situation so I could have paid my respects and say goodbye in person. I have a feeling Dana wouldn't have wanted that though and certainly didn't need a lot of noise made about it as he never really liked a lot of attention.... I will say a prayer and God Bless Dianne and the family!
