Obituary for Jonathan C. King

Jonathan Christopher King, 30, relapsed and died of an accidental overdose on June 8th, 2017 after a long battle with addiction. The reality of Jonathan's death is devastating and no possible reason can justify the loss of this compassionate young man, who had so much to give to the world. Wherever he went, people loved him. The disease of addiction is merciless. It is up to us to open our hearts and minds to those who are still sick and suffering. Jonathan does not want us to cry for him. He wants us to fight for him.

Jonathan was born in Stroudsburg, PA on August 16, 1986. He resided in Sciota, PA and was passionate about helping others. He worked with adults with intellectual disabilities, as well as those suffering from addiction and mental health struggles.

Jonathan is survived by his mother, Catherine Dileo-Lee,his father John J. King Jr, his sisters, Kelly Bayer, and Rachel Lee, his grandmother Dorothy Dileo, his fiance, Kimberly Salamone, his step father, Steven Lee, as well as many Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. He also leaves behind his beloved cat, "Trash Can Bob."

From one of Jonathan's many writings he stated, "To accept death is truly what it means to live. Nothing is infinite and nothing is forever...No matter what each person's faith or beliefs are, we all have one thing in common--we are human. We all basically strive for the same necessities in life: to be loved and free from pain...so if you struggle with the concept of a God or a higher power, let your fellow man be your spirituality. Find the common ground instead of what is different. Try and recognize your own faults before others. Recognize what makes you human."

There will be a celebration of his life held at Columcille Megalith Park on Saturday, June 17 at 2PM, 2155 Fox Gap Road, Bangor, PA 18013.

His family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Carbon Monroe Pike Drug & Commission at 428 S. 7th Street Suite 1 Lehighton, PA 18235.

Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, Inc. Stroudsburg, PA 18360 is assisting the family with arrangements.
