Dr. Gayler was a wonderful teacher and mentor to so many of us. If I had any success as a teacher for 35 years, I owe it to him. He showed us that humor and connection with students was as important as knowledge of our subject. I still laugh about the pop quizzes whenever it snowed or the need to know the scores of the weekend sporting events or location of all the World War battles! It helped so many of his students to share love of history. Thank you for sharing him with the "bearcat" family.
