Everything in life, in the world, captured Kathy’s interest. She was a Renaissance person living in the modern world. A child of the 60’s, she lived her life embracing the idealism that sprang from that era. She was a lover of math and of music. Of science fiction and romance novels. Of computers and the theater. Of the New York Giants and Stephen Hawking. Both a Girl Scout leader and an H&R tax accountant (just because it’d be “fun”). Of travel, and learning, and experiencing life.
This was the Kathy whom we saw on the outside. On the inside, was a deep spiritual base. She early in life identified with the culture of the North American Indians. Their belief was that everything in the world was sacred, each rock, each plant, every living creature. That everything here in this physical world was to be respected. And that’s how Kathy viewed the world and lived her life as well as she could in accord with those ideals.
But there was a part of her inner being, a trait, which took years of reflection by me before it finally resonated with me as being real, and pure, and true. She believed in people. She believed that each of us had the potential to do great things, be good people, and make the world a better place.
And each of us whom had the good fortune of knowing Kathy experienced her belief in us. When others didn’t. When we didn’t. She did.
I’ll miss your smile, and your laugh, and will never be able to thank you enough for being Leeann and Jackie’s mom. Love, Marc
