I was Faith's soccer coach at Port Charlotte HS. My deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of this amazing young lady.
I'd like to share a story about how I remember her. Faith decided to tryout for the Lady Pirate soccer team. She earned a position on JV. She was not the most talented player on the field. But her dedication and work ethic was second to none. Faith always did whatever was asked with a smile. As the saying goes, Faith was "all in". She would always ask me "Coach, what do I need to do to get better?" It truly was a pleasure watching her develop.
I don't remember her missing a practice or game. I remember her being so proud to be a member of the team. Always wearing her soccer apparel. When she got her team pictures she came to my classroom to show me. She gave me pin with her picture on it. I put it on my corkboard by my desk because I was so proud of her (It is still there to this day). She gave me hug and thanked me, for the chance to play. I told her she earned it. It was my pleasure to be her coach and she would always have a position on my team. With her positive attitude, work ethic and team-first mentality she was a coach's ideal player.
Faith was an amazing young lady. I can honestly say that getting to know Faith was an honor. She was one of my favorite players. I might have been her coach but she was a bigger influence on me than I ever could have been on her. Faith was a tough girl but one with a heart of gold. Her loss has saddened me deeply. My prayers are with the family. Thank you Faith for the chance to know you.
