2nd Mom

Hello David and Donna and Tannen family

It is with great sorrow I read your email of the passing of “Mom”, Mrs. Marilyn Tannen.  I am very very blessed to have known Mrs. Tannen as an active teenager and the Tannen family particularly David’s Mom had accepted this blue eyed blond “Gentile” as one more of her family members.  He home, door and kitchen were always open to me even when my best friend David was not there.  I was 2 years ahead of David but there was never a feeling of being older or beyond the Love that the Tannen family offered me.

One wonderful memory that best describes how blessed I have been to know the Tannen’s, was when my Mom and Dad were out of the country on “Holiday” and I was left to fend for myself.  I was getting on the Palmetto expressway when an elderly man changed lanes and ran into the rear quarter panel of my then brand new Karman Ghia VW.  The gentleman stopped but was not of real clear mind but had given me his address and phone number with good intentions to pay for the damage done to my car.  I was at a loss as what to do so I went over to my second “Mom”, Mrs.

Tannen who could see how concerned I was in getting my car repaired etc…  She dropped her busy schedule and we got into her Buick Rivera and road over to the gentleman’s  home.  We all sat down at his kitchen table and Mrs. Tannen business woman that she was drew up a notarized legal document guaranteeing me to get paid for damages.  I was so overwhelmed by her Love and care.  She was truly an Angel that God had sent to my teenage years, often watching over me and offering her advice on questions I had.  I spent countless hours with David in the height of my High School years he remembers all those truly special times and Karman Ghia.

Mrs. Tannen will never be forgotten, I look forward someday to seeing her again when we are all with our Father in Heaven.
