To the parents of Laura (if she attended Gledhill P.S. for Grade 3)
My sincerest sympathy to you, Laura's aunts, uncles and friends. You have lost a truly bright light from your lives too soon. I taught Laura in Grade 3 (1985-86) and remember her as a most beautiful little girl with a wonderful smile and a zest for life. She taught me to be grateful for what I have and I often think of her when faced with difficulty. Given the task of writing about being lucky for St. Patrick's Day, she expressed how lucky she was. As a hearing person, I was struck by her remarks and asked her to explain further. "I have some hearing while others have none". Such wisdom! As her last teacher in a regular classroom, I was so glad to see she reached her full potential as a bright university graduate. I am profoundly saddened by her death on what was my 75th birthday. I taught over 1000 kids in my 30 year career. Laura stands tall as one of my fondest student-teacher relationships. My best friend lost her hearing as she aged and now wears a microphone type hearing aid. Each time we get together and she puts the microphone around my neck, I think of Laura and her wisdom. Again, my deepest sympathy.

If I reached the wrong family, my sincere apology.
