Jo Ann is a wonderful woman. I first met her at Pleasant Grove Eagles at a "State Tea Meet and Greet " for the new Fraternal Order of Eagles Officers for 2007 -2008. She came up to me and told me." You are going to make a wonderful State President". I was just starting my journey as a State Trustee.
Jo Ann alway managed to find her way over to me or I over to her to give each other a loving hug and kiss. I knew early in my journey that I wanted to have Jo Ann as my Auxiliary Mother.
As the years went by her health was declining and oh how much my heart ached for her, I was praying that she would still be around for me to become that "Wonderful President" she said I was going to be. The times I got to see her was starting to became less and less and when I did get to see her I didn't want to let her go.
I knew that she wasn't going to be able to come to all meetings as Auxiliary Mother but I wanted Jo Ann in my Auxiliary family. I begged her and Billy to please try to come to Installation of New officers in Park City May of 2016 as that was the year I became State President and I wanted them there. I even asked that they sat up front with my family as I felt that they were part of the family. I named Jo Ann as my Auxiliary Grandmother and what an HONOR it was for me to have her except. I got one of those wonderful hugs and kiss she always gave me. I had named my own mother as the Honorary State Mother, again another HONOR, but my mom was in poor health too. It is hard for me lose 2 very wonderful women in my life and in the same year. They both were my 2016-2017 Auxiliary Honorary Mother and Grandmother for the Utah State Fraternal Order of Eagles.
I'm going to miss her sassy red hair, her warm and loving hugs and kisses and her beautiful smile.
Jo Ann, rest in peace and give my momma a hug for me please.
With many tears and love
Barbara Denner
