Mary Lou and Rejean Nadeau

Dear Kelly and Bradley, We are sending much love to you both as you go through this very difficult loss of your beloved mother. Donna was an amazing person, such a kind and patient soul, always soft-spoken and understanding. She had a wonderful laugh, a smile or rather an impish grin that could light up a room. She had a fierce sense of independence when she was younger and would take on challenges that many young women of her time would have backed away from. She was adventurous. But of all of the new adventures she experienced, the one that mattered most to her was the journey she took as mother to two amazing twin boys. She was so proud of you both. You fufilled a dream she had of being a mother. You presented challenges that she was always up for - children do present challenges - some more than others, right...lol? However she was absolutely delighted with the men that her boys became. Rej and I remember one Christmas when your family came to Ottawa and your mother had a bad spell with MS - you would have been 17 or 18 at the time. Your mother had to be hospitalized but was released and joined us all for Christmas dinner. The two of you - two teenage boys - were overjoyed that she was out of hospital for Christmas and you both told her "I love you Mom" and you made a fuss over her. I remember thinking how most teen boys wouldn't ever tell their mother they loved her or be excited because she was around to celebrate Christmas with them and your reaction brought me to tears. Your mother's MS impacted your relationship with your mother and also had a role in shaping the people that you have become. I believe it made you empathetic and more appreciative of family. I also believe that your mother's love played a huge role in molding you into such wonderful sons. We don't understand why someone as fiercely independant, gentle, kind and wonderful ends up with a disease like MS that robs you of so much - it just isn't fair. But we do know that your mother packed more adventure, more kindness and more understanding and love into her time on this earth than most healthy people ever can even envision.
