When I was a young girl in high school, I loved going to Shirley's Shoppe because of all the wonderful girly things she had on display. You could feel her store was unique and well thought out and there were so many wonderful things to browse through. And I used to watch Shirley with her ehthusiasm in helping her customers and her dilligence in keeping the ambiance of her shop so perfect and professional. I wanted to be a passionate business owner just like her. I loved the classy way she dressed and I took a special interest in how she wore her hair. Short, shiny black with the straight bangs with a slight curl in the front of each ear. I loved her hair so much that I saved my lunch money for weeks and went to the hair dresser and asked if she could cut my hair just like Shirley. Of course she did and that day I was just like Shirley. Unfortunately, the day after I came to the realization that only Shirley could be Shirley. I never could figure out how to keep it looking like hers. I only wish I let her know how I much she inspired me. With her passing, Yarmouth has lost a bit of its soul.
