His Love Knew No Bounds

Reg, or Mr. Davis, as I called him in my youth, was a gem of a man and my family was privileged and blessed to have him in our lives. Both he and Beatrice were like kin and welcomed us with loving arms into their hearts and home, They frequently visited our home as well and a strong bond formed from the time I was six, until today. I can see him there, sitting in his special chair in the living room, legs crossed, wearing his favourite orangy coloured sweater that Dorothy made. He was so animated, a keen listener, and always inquired about my life; and later, about my husband and children. Reg loved music. When the big old upright grand piano was still in their home, hed summon me to play it. Hed stand behind me and just belt out the words of his favourites- Blessed Assurance Jesus is Mine, O To Be Like Thee Blessed Redeemer, Face to Face with Christ My Saviour....to name a few. His hands would be lovingly placed on both my shoulders and he was an encouragement to me with that gesture. I think the only time he was happier was in the sweaty, steamy, dripping sugar shanty at Dickeys in the spring as the maple sap boiled down to syrup. Reg enjoyed simple things in life. He was not fixated on material things or the fascinations around us in this world. In fact, his mantra was This whole worlds upside down and on a slippery slope. I absolutely loved Reg. It was sad to see his memory slip away these past few years. When wed visit, wed read him a passage from the Bible. He would perk right up at its old, familiar words. Id then recall him loudly singing Tell Me the Old Old Story of Jesus and His Love. Reg loved the Lord and I know, beyond the shadow of a doubt, he now has his new body and is lustrously singing praises in Heaven. We have the assurance he is forever with the Lord. What could be more precious than that?
