My Grandmother was an amazing woman of faith. She was widowed in 1974, lost her mother shortly thereafter, buried her oldest son in 1987, yet she sought and found refuge in the Lord Jesus Christ. She was my sister as well as my grandmother. We shared a mutual love for Scripture, but she was, doubtless the warrior of prayer.
She would pray diligently and fervently. Her trust in Christ was vivid and palpable. She so inspired me and encouraged me to stay bonded to God.
Matilde means strong in battle, and that she was. She could be a fiery force to contend with on spiritual and earthly matters! But she was also a woman of joy and laughter. She used to have a grumpy, little yorkshire terrier that she named "Laughter". (I still can't figure out why) But laugh she did. Sometimes at the oddest times. You see, my gram did not do english well, especially in movies. Since she didnt understand the dialog, she woudl pretty much make the story up as it went along. Tragic dramas turned into screwball comedies. That was half the fun.
Matilde was my encouragement for strength and laughter and faith. What more grace could one ask to have in a wonderful life?
