The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of John Walford can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Robert Smith

So many great memories of Mr. Walford! Great Husband, Father, Neighbor and friend. Worked above and beyond to make sure his family was well taken care of. He was definitely one of the original old school "Cool Dad's". I was fortunate to grow up with his oldest son (Robert Joseph), and spent many a day hanging out at 6915 Glenroy St. I was always welcomed in his home, and made to feel like I was part of the family. Too many memories to mention, from the Disneyland trip in the Summer of '69 (when he would do the fake the snoring routine). To the times he would take Rob and I to his work as Athletic Director @ Miramar Naval Air Station, and give us VIP treatment and 100% access to all the athletic facilities. There was the time that Wally and I put the potato bomb in the neighbor's muffler, and he totally covered for us when the neighbor's came banging on the door (gave us a high five before the high five was invented). Mr. Walford, you will be missed, but I do want you to know, that you have been truly loved and appreciated! God bless you, and thanks for all the good deeds and smiles you have put on people's faces that have had the blessing to know you! You will be missed, but never forgotten! Hugs from Oregon.
