WASHINGTON, John Calvert Passed peacefully at home on January 3, 2018 in his 82nd year. Devoted and cherished husband of Anne (nee Neave) for 54 years. Caring father of Benjamin, Sharon, Charlotte and Christine. Loving papa to Brennan. Beloved big brother to Margaret and her husband John. He will also be missed by Aunt Pauline, extended family Steve, Melanie and Scotty, nieces, nephews, cousins and his little dog Henry. During his life John was a high school teacher, Dundas town councillor, St. James Anglican Church (Dundas) warden, Royal Hamilton Yacht Club commodore and president, published author and filmmaker and held a Master's Degree from McMaster University. He served on several Boards including The Hamilton Region Conservation Authority, Dundas Valley School of Art, The Dundas Library and Mission to Seamen (Seafarers). John enjoyed sailing, watercolour painting, model aircraft, woodworking, music and cottage life. The family would like to thank John's many devoted in-home caregivers, and in lieu of flowers, requests donations to Doctors Without Borders or a charity of your choice. There will be a Celebration of Life announced at a future date.
