Paw Paw Gene

I have nothing but GREAT things to say about Paw Paw Gene and Maw Maw Pete!! I really love the picture that they used....it is very fitting! Back in the day, you could always find him under the hood of a vehicle or in the garden. He enjoyed fishing too! He and Maw Maw Pete were married 65 years and that speaks volumes! It goes to show how dedicated he was to her and his family....and l mean ALL HIS FAMILY!! He and Maw Maw Pete took care of all of us.... grandchildren, great-grandchildren, in-laws, friends and only God knows how many others! They cared for, babysat and helped raise the majority of their family members. Paw Paw Gene would plow and plant an acre garden.....then, they would can and freeze some, but they would give the majority of their crop away! I can't count the tomatoes they gave me over the years! There was not a selfish bone in his body. He would help you with whatever he could. If you needed a way to go somewhere he would help you. If you needed to borrow something, he had it. If you needed to talk to someone, he would listen. Paw Paw Gene was a good man--and he stood strong in his faith. The Bible teaches us "That to be absent in body is to be present with the Lord." I pray that Pam, Donnie and Stephen with the rest of the family will find Peace in that and to them and Maw Maw Pete, the Bible also tells us "That God is near the broken hearted." May God bless you all during this time of sadness. l will carry my fond memories of Paw Paw Gene in my heart and  think of him working under the hood of a truck or riding on his tractor!  My Love and prayers for you all. Gwen
