Obituary for
Rubye A Giles
She was born September 21, 1932, in Pickens County, South Carolina, and was the eldest of eight children born to the late Arnell J.T. and Julia Lee Davis. She attended Crosswell Elementary and Simpson High School. A graduate of Paine College in Augusta, Georgia, her Master’s Studies were at University of South Carolina Upstate in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She was employed in the Greenville County School District as an elementary school teacher for nine years, then as an art teacher until she her retirement after thirty-one years of service.
She devoted her life to God, her family, her church, and to all the children she taught in public school and at her church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Martha Bowens; and two brothers, Bobby Davis and George Davis.
She was the mother of three daughters, Rubye (Michael) Wilkerson of College Park, GA, Dianne Giles of Greenville, SC and Charmaye (Jacque) Bias of St. Louis, MO; and three sons, George F. (Elizabeth) Giles of Jackson, MS, Troy (Angela) Giles of Greenville, SC and Carleton Giles of Columbia, SC. Other survivors include two sisters, Bettye Franklin of Cleveland, OH and Rachel (Walt) Johnson of Anderson, SC; three brothers, Joseph (Naomi) Davis of Easley, SC and Jay of Suitland, MD; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Davis of Suitland, MD and Arbutis Davis of Liberty; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
