Like we were old friends
Dear Theresa;
About 5 years ago more or less we made contact with you and Steve. We were looking for a wood artisan to make a rack for tourist literature for our new Main Street Lansing program office in the KBSB Community Center.
When we arrived at your home you were making smoothies and you and Steve made us feel like long time friends. And you gave each of us our own smoothie. We toured the house and were shown many of the beautiful pieces Steve had made over the years. Then we went out to the shop and viewed some work in progress. We talked a bit about how you found your way to the site where you built your home.
I can remember Steve coming to the office to measure for the rack. Although the location of our office has changed we took the rack with us.
It remains a lovely work.
We often travel Lansing Harpers Road. And we almost always look to the side to see your buildings and often there was a car perhaps a suv parked between the house and shop. Then the car was gone. And we kept on wondering when it would return. Then recently we decided we needed a small item made of wood for our house. So I found Steve's business card dialed the number and heard your voice on the OGM. When there was no call back I started to ask around and learned that Steve had died last year.
We are very pleased that we had the opportunity to meet you both. You were so welcoming and gentle qualities that are valued because there is so much harshness in our midst.
Theresa we are sorry that Steve died at such a young age. It would seem likely that you have many memories to draw from during those times when you feel especially alone.
Thank You.
