I first met Ralph by way of agreeing to be part of an aging and activity study group initiated by the University of Western Ontario, which was held at the Maranantha Church in Woodstock. Coming from Sudbury only a couple of years earlier, we were relative newcomers to Woodstock and my wife and I did not know many people in Woodstock and consequently we had very few friends. It only took a couple of sessions with the study group before Ralph and I struck up a conversation and ended up at Tim Hortons where we began talking about the past and our families, etc. over a cup of coffee. Before you know it, someone else from the study group joined us for coffee, then another and another and another until the group grew in size to over 20 good friends. Now, we meet weekly for coffee, monthly to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries and exercise regularly at South Gate Centre, play golf, baseball, pool, cards, attend bbq's and pool parties, and so much more. Never in my wildest dreams would I ever have thought that this group of friends, most of who did not know each other before becoming part of the study group, would be socializing, laughing, joking and attending dinners and dances together. We were made to feel part of something great and IT ALL STARTED WITH RALPH. We are saddened by his loss and will miss him very, very much. God bless you Ralph and may you rest in peace.
