In memory of my Aunt Vera

I will always cherish the memories I have of all the times we visited Aunt Vera in Montreal when we lived in Labrador City.  She was always so cheerful and accommodating and I looked forward to our visits!

We visited one last time on our way to British Columbia in 1978.  Once settled in BC I can remember a time when Grandma Barna and Aunt Vera came to visit.  We had such a good time!  This was the last time I had seen her but have kept in contact throughout periods of my life.

Once Bill and I moved into our first house when Andrew was only 4 months old we were keeping in touch often ever since.  I loved her very much and could talk to her openly and honestly about anything.  She was always there for me and truly genuine and honest.

I loved talking with her, joking and laughing.  I guess I could say she was always in my life as way back as I can remember always encouraging me when going through hard times.  Uncle Andy as well and I loved the two of them especially carrying on conversations and laughing all together if Aunt Vera forgot to mention something Uncle Andy was her back up and  Aunt Vera his....like they always read each other’s mind.  So cute.....let me tell you!

I'm going to miss her calling me a nickname Grandma Barna had for me which she continued after her mother’s passing.  The name was Stinker.  I disliked this name when little but grew very much to like it.  I loved my Grandma Barna very much too and it triggered good memories when Aunt Vera continued to call me this.  I than became Aunt Vera's Sinker....lol.  We would talk for hours on the phone and there was an expression she would say to me that always stuck out which I will dearly miss.  "Oh well, what can you do."  The love she had for Andy and Andy had for her was a deep and special bond. The love and special bond that she had with her brother was nothing I have ever seen before or heard.  We cherish these memories and hold them dear to our hearts and she will be greatly missed by so many.

Words of Comfort

Those we love don't go away,

they walk beside us every day.

Unseen, unheard, but always near,

still loved,  still missed and very dear.

Please don't think that I am gone,

I'm here to help you carry on,

I see your grief and feel your fears,

I hold you close to stop those tears,

Don't ever think I've gone away,

I'm right beside you every day.

Heaven is a place nearby,

so there is no need to say good bye.
