The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Marilyn Day-Lewis can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

The Purity of the Artist

A long time ago I purchased a piece of art from one of those auction venues - this was back in the early 70's.  It was a beach scene with a young girl sitting in the dunes watching a sailboart off shore.  She was nestled into the dune with only a swath of very yellow hair blowing in the wind.  The rest of the oil painting was in natural calming colors, except for that brilliant yellow hair.... I asked Marilyn if she could 'calm' the color of the hair down a bit so it would not be the center of the painting.  She kept the painting for several weeks and then returned it to me unchanged with the comment - 'this is how the artist painted this picture - it would be a sacrilege to change what is on the canvas'.......  this was almost a half a century ago.  She was an artist and in my memory always will be. Old story - still young in my mind.  Now you can really enjoy the art of the cosmos dear Marilyn and I hope our girls can reconnect for a little time - after all these years.  Betsi Hilton
