Condolences to Tom and Nancy. Carol was sure nice to all of us kids who would come to Roy's Cafe back in the late 60s and early 70's. She'd let us read the comic books they had for sale without actually buying them provided we put them back in the wire rack. She and Roy ran the restaurant in the front and lived in the back and it seemed she was always there. It was the first restaurant I ever visited that had a television in it, color no less, and Carol could tell you one thing or another about most of the regulars on the Lawrence Welk Show. The round table up front was the hub of goings on for the town of Deerwood and Carol was often at the next table over filling in any missing details for the fellas shaking dice for coffee.
