The Wenatchee World Obituary

Norma Lila (Wise) Cammack, who went by Lila whenever she could, died peacefully at home in Entiat, WA, on November 14, 2018. She was a lifelong Chelan County resident. Born on June 22, 1924 at home up Johnson Creek between Chelan and Entiat, the third of four girls born to Roy and Effie Wise. Moving with her fathers employment in the logging industry, she started school in a one room school at the old Ardenvoir mill camp up Muddy Creek and later moved to the current Ardenvoir site at the mouth of Mad River. Lila graduated from Entiat High School in 1942. On December 31, 1944, Lila married James Cammack of Entiat while she was living with her parents in Leavenworth and he was serving in The United States Marine Corps. After Jim was discharged in 1945, they moved to the Cammack family orchard, where she lived for the rest of her life. Family and friends were very important to Lila and get togethers were always filled with love and laughter. Children were her favorite people as she led both Bluebird and Cub Scout groups and taught Sunday School classes at The Entiat Federated Church where she was a longtime member. She also loved being outdoors from an early age playing on the hills and in the streams where she grew up; identifying plants and birds, gathering mushrooms and berries, and joining Jim on hunting and fishing trips. Lila is survived by three children, Dawn McKenzie, Patrice (Garth) Spruiell and Michael Cammack; her much loved five grandchildren, Dru, Megan and Cameron McKenzie and Diarmid and Gwen Spruiell, and their families; two sisters, Nioma Specker and Zola Rook; and Sister-In-Law, Nellie OKeefe. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Robert; her husband, James; one sister, Mildred Whitehall; and one son-in-law, Wayne McKenzie. A commemoration of her life will be held in the late Spring. Please visit her online tribute at www.HeritageMemorialChapel.com and for updated information regarding the commemoration and to add your own memories of Lila. Arrangements are in care of Heritage Memorial Chapel, East Wenatchee, WA.
