Obituary for Gladys Evelyn Ewart

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Gladys “Evelyn” (Butler) Ewart on March 19, 2017 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Evelyn was born in Newcastle Creek, NB on August 1, 1932 to the late Ernest and Orion (Camp) Butler and was the loving wife of 63 years to husband Murray Ewart.

Evelyn lived a life of service. She was passionate about her career and even after working so hard all day, she still spent a couple of hours after her shift was over, going around and talking to her friends and colleagues on the floor. Evelyn was very faithful and enjoyed fully participating and attending Silver Falls United Church. When she became a grandmother, it was as if her true passion was revealed, and she just absolutely adored spending time with them. She was a hard worker, but she enjoyed her life. She and Murray loved to take trips, and they went to Hawaii and on various cruises; and were completely inseparable as a couple. They truly loved each other. She was a loyal woman and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughters, Beth (Murray) Cullen and Monica Thompson, four grandsons: David (Danielle) and Stephen Thompson and Christopher (Shelby) and Johnathan Cullen, and great–grandsons Henrick Thompson and Ryan Cullen, as well as her brother Verne Butler and her lifelong best friends Zola Parks and Olivia Allen.

Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her son–in–law Larry Thompson.

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646–2424) where visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 22 from 2 to 5pm. A funeral service will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 12pm with interment to follow in Ocean View Memorial Gardens.

Charitable donations made to Canadian Diabetes Foundation, Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick, Silver Falls United Church or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
