Obituary for Jean Harris

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Jean Harris (Sproul) of Saint John, NB, loving and devoted wife of 47 years to the late Brian I. Harris, which occurred peacefully at Bobby’s Hospice surrounded by her loving family on December 13, 2017, she was the daughter of the late Ronald and Gladys (Danford) Sproul.

Jean was a caregiver. She loved to take care of people and always put their needs first. Jean was never concerned with being in the spotlight. She was happy to be behind the scenes, making sure that everything ran smoothly. Family was the center of her world, especially her beloved grandchildren, from basketball games, to Halloween and Christmas, “Granny’s” mission was to spoil her babies.

Jean is survived by her loving children; Paul Sproul (Mindy Magarvey), Natalie (Tony) Wilkins and Greg (Karrie), cherished grandchildren; Jessica (Daniel), Mya, Josh, Kale, Zander and Heath, great granddaughter Lilly, her brothers; Fred (Valerie), Albert (the late Deanna), Roy (Brenda), Doug, Len (Debbie), John (Colleen), Murray (Carla), sisters; Mary Nicol (Donnie), Margaret Atkinson (Doug), Betty Caswell (Jack), Janet Kirkpatrick (Ron) and Jane Garnett, sisters–in–law; Marie Sproul, Carol (Tony) Smith, Noeline (Fraser) Smith and Gail MacLean–Harris. Jean is also survived and will be lovingly remembered by her many nieces and nephews as well as numerous friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Jean is predeceased by a daughter in infancy Wendy, grandson David Sproul, brother Francis Sproul, sister Dorothy Myles and her husband Phil, and brother–in–law Warren Harris and wife Claire Harris.

Jean will be resting at the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646–2424) with visitation hours being held on Saturday, December 16, 2017 between the hours of 3 to 7 PM. A funeral service will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, December 18, 2017 at 11 AM., followed by a reception.

Memorial donations placed towards Bobby’s Hospice or the Evan Fraser Smith Memorial Fund would be appreciated by the family.

The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the Doctors, Nurses and Staff of the 5CN of the Saint John Regional Hospital and the staff and volunteers of Bobby’s Hospice for the outstanding care given to Jean and her family. Your kindness and compassion will never be forgotten.
