Obituary for Douglas Smith

The death of Douglas Smith of Fredericton N.B. occurred peacefully on October 9th, 2018 at Hospice House in Fredericton after a hard fought battle with cancer. He handled it all with the utmost strength and dignity, as he did with everything in life. Born in Saint John, N.B., he was the son of the late Frank Smith and Hilda Smith (Boyd).

Douglas spent his career in the IT Industry, working primarily with companies in the United States and across Canada before retiring in Fredericton.

Douglas is survived by his wife, Jackelyn Mari Smith (Kierstead) of Fredericton; his daughter Kherri Kristina Smith of Inverness, NS; his son Shawn Richmond Smith of Seattle, WA; a son–in–law Carson James MacIsaac of Inverness NS; one grandson Colton James MacIsaac of Inverness, NS; a brother William F. Smith of Chilliwack, BC; a sister Barbara D. Smith of Grand Bay NB; several nieces and nephews and last but certainly not least, his devoted and beloved pet (aka best friend) Ewok.

He was predeceased by one brother Richmond G. Smith of Saint John, NB.

There will be no visitation. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date (TBD).

In lieu of flowers, those who so desire may make a memorial donation to the Fredericton SPCA, Hospice House Fredericton, the Extra Mural Program – Fredericton or a charity of the donors choice. Online condolences may be made at www,mcadamsfh.com
